THE BEAUTY OF OLD WOMEN

When I was flipping through the pages of an old book I came across this wonderful quote by Harriet Beecher Stowe "So much has been said and sung of beautiful young girls, why don't somebody wake up to the beauty of old women?" So much truth in this expression. I particularly love women who are aged - be it Indians or women from any part of the globe who carry themselves very well. I met an old lady in a very small village recently, she is over 90 years- she still toils in the little bit of agricultural land that she owns, has never been to the doctor at all - she has 3 children, all of them educated and settled in different parts of the country. She also told me that she took care of her delivery all by herself! WOW!! I asked her for her name, she said you can call me paati (thats how you say grandmother in tamizh). Her husband, as she recalls was'nt a great contributor to the family's wellness. So she had to take charge all life and she says she doesnt remember a...
